HAVANA, Nov. 25 (ACN) A representation of Cuban diplomats and health, education, construction and defense collaborators in South Africa gathered at the Freedom Park, in Pretoria, to pay tribute to the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, on the third anniversary of his death.

Those present laid a wreath in front of the wall bearing the name of the former president of Cuba, along with more than 2,000 compatriots fallen in the fighting for the liberation of Africa.
The documentary ¨Fidel por Siempre, ¨ by Cuban journalist Gladys Rubio, was screened to the audience, who recalled the heartfelt tribute of his people and the expressions of sorrow and tribute throughout the Caribbean island until his burial at Santa Ifigenia cemetery, in Santiago de Cuba.
Rodolfo Benitez, Cuba's ambassador to South Africa, stressed that the aim of this meeting was to celebrate the life and work of Fidel Castro, whose ideas remain fresh.
The diplomat ended his speech by recalling the words of the Cuban leader at the closing of the 7th congress of the Cuban Communist Party, held in April 2016, a few months before his death.
