Spanish monarchs arrive in Santiago de CubaHAVANA, Cuba, Nov. 14 (ACN) Spanish monarchs Felipe VI and Letizia arrived today at the Antonio Maceo Grajales International Airport in Santiago de Cuba as part of their first official visit to Cuba, which began on November 11.

Beatriz Johnson Urrutia, vice president of the Council of State of Cuba and President of the Provincial Assembly of People's Power, received them at the air terminal.
During their brief stay in Santiago de Cuba, the King and Queen will unveil a plaque at the Castillo del Morro San Pedro de la Roca Museum, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO and witness of the naval battle held on July 3, 1898, where more than 300 Hispanic sailors died, whose names appear on a plaque placed in the old military fortress.
Letizia and Felipe VI will also visit the historic urban site Loma de San Juan, National Monument and scene of the main land battle of the Hispanic-Cuban-American war, in the same month and year as the previous event.
In this place, considered an open-air museum, they will lay a wreath in front of the monument to the Spanish Soldier, to honor those who fell in that war.
With these activities their Majesties will conclude the first official visit to Cuba, and will fly from the airport of this eastern city.
