HAVANA, Cuba, Jul 7 (acn) Nguyen Thi Than Hoa, member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam and President of the Women's Union (UMV) of that Asian nation highlighted in this capital the socio-economic and professional development achieved by Cuban women.
In the presence of Teresa Amarelle Boue, general secretary of the Federation of Cuban Women (FMC), the visitors underlined the high academic level of women on the island, and their interest in studying to obtain master's degrees and doctorates.
She noted that over 80 percent of Vietnamese women do not have university degrees, which is why one of the objectives of the trip is to know how Cuba promotes educational training in all ages.
At the meeting, Amarelle explained the objectives, structures, characteristics and goals of the FMC, a self-financed, non-governmental organization representing 4.2 million inhabitants in Cuba.
It is a national mechanism to implement public policies for the defense of the Revolution, working for cultural equality between sexes and community-family interaction, she added.
On Monday afternoon, the Vietnamese delegation, composed of Nguyen Thi Hoai Linh, head of Foreign Affairs and Tran Thi Lan, head of the Department of Organization, the two of them of the UMV; and the presidents in the cities of Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh, met with Jose Ramon Balaguer, member of the Central Committee of the Cuban Communist Party and head of its Department of International Relations.
On Tuesday, the delegation will visit the Vo Thi Thang primary school, located in the Havana municipality of Playa, and the Quitrin Craft Development Center, and then it will meet with journalists of the La Mujer Publishing House.
