SANTA CLARA, Cuba, Dec 1 (acn) The national ceremony for the World Day in response to HIV -AIDS is being held today at Marta Abreu clinic, in this city, where practices against the virus make a positive impact.
This facility, beside the municipality of Caibarién, underwent the process developed in Cuba by the Pan American Health Organization, to validate the absence of transmission of the disease from mother to child.
Exchanges with the community, installation of a bureau of information and illustrative material delivery are among the measures that will precede the event, Arelys Peñate, specialist of the HIV-AIDS program of the provincial Center for Health Education, told ACN.
She stressed that the facilities subject to the supervision of the international health organization will be recognized this time.
During the event, other proposals will be made in the areas of Leoncio Vidal Park, the city's main square, where there will be educational meetings with adolescents and youth and an Information Bureau for all age groups, she added.
The event's program includes, among other things, a cultural gala at El Bosque recreation center and the presentation of projects related to the fight against the pandemic.
The celebration of the World Day in response to HIV -AIDS is carried out since 1988, idea born at the World Summit of Health Ministers in January that year in London.
