Over 260 Pakistani Physicians to Graduate in Sancti Spíritus

SANCTI SPIRITUS, Cuba, Feb 25 (acn) More than 260 Pakistani physicians will graduate on Friday in this city, Muhammad Rashid Usman, representative of the doctors-to-be at the University of Medical Sciences of Sancti Spiritus, told ACN.

Rashid Usman commented that they're grateful to the Revolution and to Commander in Chief Fidel Castro, who, after the earthquake of 2005 that hit that Asian region causing over 73,000 deaths, offered 1,000 grants to study Medicine in Cuba.

He recalled that the Cuban medical brigade was the first one to help that nation and the last one to leave it; from that historic event we learned about the human greatness of this homeland, he said.

More than 280 students of that territory will also graduate on February 27, at the University of Medical Sciences of Cienfuegos.

The Pakistaníes in Sancti Spiritus come from all the provinces of that country, including the semi-autonomous tribal regions of the northwest and of the Pakistani area of Cachemira, which lack medical personnel and the health system of which is extremely fragile.
