The audiovisual gathers stories of women of different ages and professions showing their achievements in the struggle to contribute in the development of the Revolution from the perspective of gender equality with emphasis in respect for women.

The documentary includes about 20 interviews with women like a grandmother in a Park in Santiago de Cuba to a scientist, a doctor that had offered her internationalist mission abroad, student leader, journalist or artist.

The film is dedicated to the late Dr. Isabel Moya who was the director of the Mujer Editorial House and another of the protagonist of Cuban women in the Revolution.

With long hours of interviews, Torellas achieved in a short period to capture the women in their multiple dimensions, marked by the revolutionary example and firmness of three great Cuban women: Celia Sanchez, Vilma Espin and Haydee Santamaria.

Maria Torellas said that she wanted to conclude the project for the last 15 years and the FMC sponsored the making of the documentary.

It is a tribute to Cuban women, to the stories but also to those that continue its legacy at a moment in which the revolutionary process seemed so difficult but has had great results, said the journalist and filmmaker with the presence of a part of her team of Resumen Latinoamericano in Cuba.

In recent statements to Prensa Latina News agency, she expressed that Cuba is a lighthouse in the equality between men and women although there are still challenges in the family roles.

The intention of the documentary was to show the struggle of women in the Revolution, their contribution and achievements and thanks to the process and despite the terrible economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States against Cuba for over half a century, women can show other countries that a better world is possible, she said.
