Artemisa, Cuba, Apr 26 (acn) Canadian Students from the Smithers D.C High School and members of the Cuban Nuevas Liras group and Los Tres del Son Trio met in a cultural exchange on Wednesday in the province of Artemisa.
The visitors, guided by Professor Mike Doogan-Smith and the Cuban side by musician Valentin Puentes shared the stage at the Casa de la Musica in Artemisa that was recently nominated to the National Conservation and Restoration of Monuments Award in the category of Heritage.
The Canadian students interpreted in a solemn manner the Cuban National Anthem that gave way for a Cuban performance where they sang songs like El Manisero and Oye Como Va.
Puentes told ACN that these exchanges not only strengthen relations between peoples but also motivates the creativity of the students to achieve a better artistic performance thanks to the exchange of experiences.
Doogan-Smith highlighted the opportunity of having shared with the Cuban students and said their talent impressed him on stage.
The exchange also included a trip to the beautiful nature community of Las Terrazas located in Artemisia province.
