HAVANA, Cuba, Feb 17 (ACN) In a literary event that celebrates the rich South African cultural heritage, the philosophy of Ubuntu arose as a powerful reminder of the importance of mutual care and solidarity among people.
During the space "Lectures and Poetry. The ancestral footprint: Ubuntu", it was made known that this word refers to every trace of the "black continent" sown in the natives of that land and in us, in general, in our bones, in our blood and in our way of life.
Writer and teacher Nombeko Nontshokweni said that this concept goes back to the moment of birth and the responsibility to take care of each other.
Such ancestral wisdom is essential to build strong and supportive communities, love and help each other, which added to the influence of Tata Mandela (1918-2013) strengthens the legacy and inspires current generations, he said.
He further stressed that Nelson Mandela is the father of the South African nation and taught that it is not only about freeing ourselves from chains, but how we live and treat each other," Nombeko Nontshokweni emphasized.
South Africa, as guest of honor of the 33rd edition of the Havana International Book Fair, which runs until February 23, is recognized for its role in promoting values such as unity, cultural diversity and the philosophy of Ubuntu.
