Cuban Writer Wins Literary Prize in Costa RicaHAVANA, Cuba, Nov 17 (acn) Cuban writer Jorge Luis Peña Reyes, who lives in the town of Puerto Padre, in the province of Las Tunas, won the Prize of children's literature in the Ibero-American Competition ONE Word, whose official award ceremony will be next November 20th.

His text, titled Cuentos para no perderse, won the laurel of the XXXV edition of the contest for its literary values to reinterpret, from a contemporary perspective, the tale of Tom Thumb, by French Charles Perrault.

Peña Reyes told reporters in Las Tunas that the recognition in this competition is the most important of all his works, known internationally, as he has been published in Colombia, Ecuador, Argentina, Mexico and Spain.

Among the most popular books of this writer appear Donde el jején puso el huevo (adapted to a cartoon) ¿Oíste hablar del miedo? Y and La luna de dos maneras.

For the Cuban author, literature for children and youth experiencing a boom time on the island, mainly in the narrative, which has been out of manners, and proposes bolder and striking stories.

The event, organized by the National University of Costa Rica, was established more than three decades ago and is recognized for his contributions to the promotion of Latin American literature since the awards include the publication of the winning works.
