LAS TUNAS, Cuba, Aug 12 (acn) The 6th Iberian-American Meeting of Children and Young Poets, Trouveres and Improvisers began on Monday in this city, with the presentation of the panel La Huasteca in the voice of its poets. On this occasion, the meeting is dedicated to that Mexican region and to late Cuban poet Jesus Orta Ruiz (el Indio Nabori.
Explained during the inaugural session was the influence of oral tradition in that area and of the native languages currently spoken in La Huasteca.
Mexican poet Arturo Castillo highlighted the strong music genres using improvisation, among them ritual son pieces for the deceased, deities and marriages, as well as the huasteco, popularly known as huapango. The writer specified that five trios, dancers and cultural promoters are attending the meeting.
The states of San Luis Potosi, Veracruz, Hidalgo and Tamaulipas compose the region of La Huasteca, where the meeting has been convened since 2009, sponsored by the Sierra Gorda Museum to keep Mexican lyrical traditions alive.
Prior to the opening of this meeting, delegates visited El Cornito, the farm where Juan Cristobal Napoles Fajardo, El Cucalambe, was born, the most important bucolic poet of 20th century Cuba.
The 6th Iberian-American Meeting of Children and Young Poets, Trouveres and Improvisers, held for the first time on the island, will run until August 16, with the participation of artists from Colombia, Puerto Rico and the Basque Country.
