HAVANA, Cuba, Mar 11 (ACN) The Second Secretary of the Central Committee of the Cuban Communist Party, Jose Ramon Machado Ventura voted on Sunday morning to select the deputies and delegates to the National and Provincial Assemblies of the People's Power in the eastern city of Guantanamo.
Machado greeted the voters present and members of the electoral table and cast his vote in the box protected by schoolchildren; members of the Jose Marti Pioneers Association.
In statements to Prensa Latina News Agency, he said that the candidates to deputies and delegates are very much qualified and highlighted that the majority are women, example of the country's development in gender equality.
Machado stressed that the Cuban people must be better prepared to face the threats of the new US administration against Cuba while defending the revolutionary achievements.
