SANTIAGO DE CUBA, Cuba, Dec 10 (ACN) Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez, first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (CC -PCC) and president of the country, as part of his tour of the country's municipalities, visited on Monday in Santiago de Cuba the agro-ecological farm "La Victoria", belonging to the Julio Trigo Lopez Credit and Services Cooperative (CCS), in the town of Siboney.
Accompanied by Roberto Morales Ojeda, member of the Political Bureau and Secretary of Organization of the CC-PCC, and the main authorities of the province, the president checked the variety of crops planted in a 5.3 hectares of land, destined for social consumption, specifically for the family care system, maternal homes, homes for children without family support, among others.
Oleidi Torres Suarez, producer of the farm, explained the impact of the assembly of a semi-protected cultivation house, the micro-sprinkler irrigation system, the use of intercropping and crop rotation and the use of organic matter with liquid humus obtained from vermiculture.
Diaz-Canel in the honor book of the entity qualified as unforgettable the experience of visiting La Victoria, where the potential of rigorous work, committed and supported by science, results that show the way forward for the good of the homeland, the Revolution and socialism can be appreciated.
In a second moment, the Cuban president arrived in the Moncada cement factory, under construction, where he was concerned about the state of each object of work of that investment, one of the largest in the country in recent years, scheduled to start up in 2025.
Engineer Adrian Villegas, director of this entity, detailed the progress of the industry, its facilities and the modern technologies it will be equipped with.
Later, in the recently repaired Provincial Palace of Pioneers "A flower for Camilo", Diaz-Canel was received by children who told him about the founding of that institution on July 6, 1974 by the Commander of the Revolution Juan Almeida Bosque.
Guided by the pioneers, he relived the history of the site whose main activity is the development of vocational training circles of interest for elementary and junior high school students in 37 specialties, currently with an enrollment of 1,600 students.
At the Hermanos Marañon Party School in this city, the president evaluated the results of the report of the working visit of the auxiliary structure of the Central Committee to the municipality of Santiago de Cuba.
The PCC's functioning, attention to young people, banking, tax evasion, high prices, the growth of crimes, imposition of fines, prevention plans, among other issues, were the focus of the analysis in which executives of local companies, agencies and organizations participated.
Cuban president acknowledged the efforts of the people of Santiago de Cuba, said it was the last time he would be in the territory this year, and assured that he would return in January to attend the two municipalities he had yet to visit.
To conclude the day, Diaz-Canel and Morales Ojeda went to the Santa Ifigenia patrimonial cemetery to pay tribute to Fidel Castro, historic leader of the Revolution, Jose Marti, National Hero, Carlos Manuel de Cespedes and Mariana Grajales, Father and Mother of the Homeland.
