Cuba denounces the US blockade at the Ibero-American Conference on Education


HAVANA, Cuba, Oct 7 (ACN) The Cuban minister of education, Ena Elsa Velazquez Cobiella, denounced on Tuesday at the 27th Ibero-American Conference of Ministers of Education the effects of the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed against her country by the United States.

Speaking at the event "Challenges and opportunities of the digital transformation of education: lessons learned from the COVID-19", which was hosted by the Principality of Andorra, with representatives from 22 countries and held online sessions due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the minister revealed the effects of the U.S. blockade against Cuba in education and the limitations on acquiring the necessary resources.
She also shared with the audience the experiences of the Caribbean nation to continue the 2019-2020 school year in times of COVID-19 pandemic and about the role of Cuban teachers in the development of the teleclasses, the educational channel, Cinesoft and the Direction of Educational Technology.
According to the official website of the meeting, the agenda of the event includes three plenary sessions dealing with the challenges and opportunities of the digital transformation; lifelong learning, and innovative school and educational systems, committed to sustainability and fostering the entrepreneurial abilities of students.
