Nearly Ten Thousand Cubans Already Got their COVID-19 Booster

Havana, Dec 23 (ACN) Some 927 thousand 302 citizens have been administered a COVID-19 booster in Cuba with locally developed vaccines in order to be better protected against the virus.

The figure includes 73 thousand 230 people who got their booster as part of clinical trials and 854 thousand 72 got it as part of the massive vaccination program underway on the island, according to the Cuban Health Ministry.

The ministry also informed that 9 million 537 thousand 322 citizens have completed the vaccination scheme, standing for 85.3 percent of the whole population.

Up to December 21st, over 10.3 million persons had at least received one shot of the Cuban locally developed vaccines Soberana 02, Soberana Plus or Abdala; some 9 million 287 thousand 697 have received two doses.

In all, 29 million 462 thousand 299 doses of COVID-19 vaccines have been thus far administered in Cuba, where 964 thousand 406 persons have been tasted positive to the disease since March 2020, when the virus first appeared on the island. As a result of the infection 8 thousand 317 persons have died and 955 thousand 679 have been recovered, standing for 99.1 percent of all those who got sick.
