HAVANA, Cuba, Aug 20 (ACN) Cuba is among the countries that have the necessary capacities to launch a mass production of the Russian vaccine against the coronavirus (Sputnik V), declared today Kiril Dmitriev, director general of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RFPI).
During a digital press conference on the Russian vaccine, the manager underlined the importance of producing it in international markets, which is why the RFPI analyzed the countries that have the necessary productive capacities to do so.
Such nations include Cuba, India, Brazil, Korea, and a number of other countries that have very large capacities and could become international centers for the production of the vaccine, Dmitriev stressed.
On Sputnik V, he said that clinical trials will be carried out not only in Russia, but also in the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, the Philippines, perhaps in Brazil or India.
Dmitriev noted that Russia plans to produce the vaccine in more than five countries, and there is now high demand for the supply in Asia, Latin America, the Middle East and other parts of the world.
The RFPI expects to begin supplying the vaccine to foreign markets next November or December, assuming that mass vaccination in Russia will begin in October, he added.
