Ministers of Foreign Affairs from Cuba and Canada to meet in HavanaHAVANA, Cuba, May 16 (ACN) Canadian Foreign Minister Chrystia Freeland is making a working visit to Cuba this Thursday, where she will meet with her Cuban counterpart Bruno Rodriguez.

Freeland will be received at the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and it is expected that both parties will discuss bilateral relations and the impact of the activation by the United States of Chapter III of the Helms-Burton Act, which affects third countries.
The Canadian government, like others from Europe and from different latitudes, expressed its rejection of the extraterritorial nature of this U.S. legislation, which punishes businessmen and people with investments and businesses on the island.
Canada has important investments in Cuba and is one of the main source of tourists to the largest of the Antilles.
According to analysts, the issue of migration and Canada's decision to suspend consular services in Cuba should also be on the table.
This measure forces Cubans who wish to travel to the northern country to apply for a Canadian visa in a third country.
Ottawa claims to be short of personnel, after the withdrawal of consular officials for alleged 'sonic attacks'.
It was the same pretext used by the U.S. government to practically close its consulate in Havana.
The Cuban authorities and international experts consulted could not find grounds or evidence for the alleged 'sonic attacks' that the United States and Canada claim affected members of their diplomatic staff in the Cuban capital.
