Another group of 200 doctors arrive in Cuba from BrazilHAVANA, Cuba, Dec 3 (ACN) Inés María Chapman, vice-president of the Councils of State and Ministers, received more than 200 doctors from Manaus, Brazil, on Sunday night on the sixteenth flight bringing Cuban doctors from that nation, where they were participating in the More Doctors Program.

On behalf of the new arrivals, Dr. Jorge Lázaro León expressed the joy of knowing that the Homeland today receives them proudly and with open arms, for the duty accomplished.

We arrived feeling more Cuban and grateful for the signs of love we received, he said.

All of us who have arrived, he added, and those who are yet to come, bring the mission to a successful conclusion and ratify our willingness to collaborate with the peoples of the world who need our humble efforts.

We have done nothing but cure and be there for the patients, as we were taught in Cuba, said several of the young doctors who recently arrived in their native land, because no Cuban doctor can be accused of lack of humanism or professionalism, as the Brazilian president-elect is now doing, they said.

With the 215 doctors on this flight, more than three thousand health professionals who collaborated with the South American giant have already returned to the island.

The return of the doctors to Cuba was announced by the Ministry of Public Health (Minsap) on November 14, putting an end to participation in an initiative promoted by former Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff that expanded access to health care in that nation.

The Minsap's decision, taken in the face of the attitude of the newly elected Brazilian president Jair Bolsonaro, has received broad support from different sectors inside and outside the island.

In five years, about 20,000 Cuban health professionals served people in more than 3,600 municipalities in Brazil.

Noemí Causa Palma, national director of Minsap, recalled that this is a memorable date for the history of Cuba, commemorating the arrival of the yacht Granma to the Cuban coasts with the precious burden of freedom.

Cuban doctors have shown that nothing is above principles, morals, the tremendous vocation to be revolutionaries and remaining faithful to the ideals of Commander in Chief Fidel Castro, she stressed.
