HAVANA, Cuba, May 19 (ACN) The Cuban Institute of Standardization, Metrology and Quality Control (ICNMCC by its Spanish acronym) was created on May 8, 1973 with the aim of centralizing its actions, then spread out and which constituted the early stages of the system that Cuba has today.
From the socio-economic point of view, it became the first central and governing body of these activities in the country, after the integration of the Department of Standards and the National Laboratory of Standardization, of the Ministry of Basic Industry, under the superior direction of the Council of Ministers.
Besides having territorial delegations and metrological centers, the structures, state inspection, standardization and certification were strengthened.
In 2020, Decree Law No. 8/2020 on Standardization, Metrology, Quality and Accreditation and its regulation 16/2020 reinforced its application.
Nancy Fernandez Rodriguez, director of the National Office of Standardization, insists that its purpose is to contribute to the improvement of the National Quality Infrastructure, because that includes all its actors, the government sector, producers of goods and services, marketers, educators, scientists, suppliers of materials and conformity assessment services.
