Cubans Consider Artificial Intelligence against COVID-19

Havana, Nov 11 (ACN) Cuban experts with the Neuroscience Center and the Cuban Imageneology Society are involved in a project aimed at improving the performance of Thorax X-rays and Computerized Axial Tomography Scan to diagnose and follow up on patients positive to COVID-19, through the administration of artificial intelligence.

Project leader Evelio Gonzalez told reporters that they intend to contribute radiological studies through artificial intelligence techniques in an effort to improve image quality and provide better information to be more accurate in addressing detected damage.

The expert stressed the importance of improving the effectiveness of Thorax X-rays in treating the COVID-19 disease because it is an economical, fast an very accessible proceeding which can help early diagnostic of the disease and the follow up of patients both in hospitals and convalescents.

Gonzalez noted that even when the COVID-19 pandemic gets under control, their project will still be applied in other lung studies linked to Cancer and Post COVID research.
