Vietnam Interested in Cuban Vaccine against Meningitis

HAVANA, Cuba, Aug 22 (acn) Distribution companies of medicines, experts and representatives of vaccination centers of Vietnam inquired on Friday about the qualities of the Cuban medicament Va-Mengoc, to fight meningitis of groups B and C.

Convened by the Vietnamese company VABIOTECH, the public participated in a presentation by Master of Science Pablo Gonzalez, a specialist with the Finlay Institute, a prestigious Cuban institution, the research work of which led to the production of the aforementioned vaccine against meningitis.
Gonzalez pointed out that, like on the island, trials carried out in Brazil with nine million children, and other tens of thousands trials in Argentina, Uruguay and Colombia, showed low percentages of foreseeable innocuous reactions in vaccines.
According to the note dated in Hanoi, Vietnam has also benefited from Va-Mengoc, with two million children vaccinated against meningitis since it adopted it to face this children's disease, of high frequency in that Asian nation.
At least 14 countries have registered the medicament to be able to commercialize it, and a similar number is in that process, stated Gonzalez, cited by Prensa Latina news agency.
