Holguin sweep Industriales in Cuban baseball

HAVANA, Cuba, Feb 16 (acn) Holguin beat 7-5 Industriales to complete the sweep in their subseries and gain ground in the fight for accessing to the postseason of Cuban baseball championship in its 55 th edition.

Michel Gorguet and Yeison Pacheco homered to lead Holguin´s offensive while reliever Carlos León was the winner after allowing six hits and two earned runs in two innings and two thirds of work.
Holguin remained in the fifth seat of the standings, but now appears only two games behind I ndustriales, owner of the fourth and last spot with the right to qualify to the decisive stage of the domestic baseball classic.
Jonder Martínez allowed nine hits and one earned run in five innings and one-third to lead Matanzas to a 9-4 triumph over the leader and current monarch Ciego de Ávila, in a match that included a solo homer by Anibal Medina and two RBIs per capita to the account of Yurisbel Gracial, Jefferson Delgado, Yasiel Santoya and Eduardo Blanco.
Pinar del Río fought for 11 innings in its 9-6 victory against Las Tunas; reliever Isbel Hernandez deserved the win and there was offensive highlight for Michael Gonzalez, who hit 3 for 5 with a homer and three RBIs.
Finally , Guillermo Avilés batted 3 for 4 with two RBIs and Eriel Sanchez hit a two-run homer as pinch hitter to lead Granma to a 10-4 victory over the current runner-up Isla de la Juventud.
Ciego de Avila leads the National Baseball Series with 48 wins and 25 losses, escorted by Pinar del Río (44-26), Matanzas (43-28), Industriales (43-31), Holguin (41-33), Las Tunas (39-35), Granma ( 38-36) and Isla de la Juventud (36-36).
The Cuban baseball championship will be resumed on Wednesday morning with the matches Ciego de Avila-Pinar del Rio , Granma-Matanzas, Holguin-Isla de la Juventud and Las Tunas-Industriales, always in the house of the firsts.
