Latin-American personality denounces continued impact of US blockade against Cuba

HAVANA, Cuba, Oct 22 (ACN) The economic side of the US economic, financial and commercial blockade against Cuba is one of the most shocking, Karina Bathyany, Executive Secretary of the Latin American Council of Social Sciences (CLACSO), denounced today in Havana.

The Cuban people have been facing this hostile policy for nearly 60 years, and it has even worsened, she told the Cuban News Agency, who is attending an international symposium in Havana on social emancipation against domination.
The PhD explained that CLACSO analyzes the impact of the US blockade on the social, cultural and political level in Cuba, in order to demonstrate the perseverance, resistance and creativity of Cubans so that other countries in the region can learn from their experiences.
These lessons constitute a hope for Latin America and the Caribbean in the complex moments it is going through, said CLACSO's Executive Secretary, an organization that fosters a cycle of activities for the 60th anniversary of the triumph of the Cuban Revolution.
Academics, researchers, members of social movements, students and officials from Bolivia, Colombia, Cuba, Chile, Spain, United States, Honduras, Mexico, Paraguay, Venezuela and Uruguay attend the symposium, opened today at the University of Havana.
The event is sponsored by the Psychological and Sociological Research Center of Cuba, with the co-sponsorship of CLACSO, which is based in Buenos Aires, Argentina, where it constitutes a public or private network of institutions that develop research, training and extension in the social sciences field.
