UN General Assembly reiterates its rejection of US blockade against Cuba

UN General Assembly reiterates its rejection of US blockade against CubaHAVANA, Cuba, Sep 17 (ACN) Maria Fernanda Espinosa, President of the UN General Assembly, said that this international body has had a very clear position for decades against the blockade imposed by the United States against Cuba.

Fernanda Espinosa declared that unilateral sanctions really affect the security and the right to development of all people, when asked by Prensa Latina about the increase of hostile measures from Washington to Havana.

The UN is very clear on this issue of sanctions, she added, sanctions are a prerogative of the Security Council.

Besides, the Cuban permanent mission to the UN explained that the US blockade against Cuba is the most unjust, severe and prolonged system of unilateral sanctions applied against any country.

During the almost 60 years of its implementation, the total accumulated damage amounts to 138.843 billion dollars.

Since 1992, the UN General Assembly has approved 27 resolutions demanding that the US government put an end, without any conditions, to its blockade policy against Cuba.
