Despite US blockade, Cuba continues its solidarity

Havana, Sep 11 (ACN) Solidarity of the Cuban people with other nations continues as an important principle of the Revolution, despite the tightening of the U.S. government's policy of blockade against the Caribbean island.

A sign of this is that the Cuban government sent the first humanitarian aid to the Bahamas this Wednesday, an archipelago devastated by the impact of Hurricane Dorian, the strongest meteorological phenomenon that has affected that territory.
In this regard, the Cuban Minister of Public Health, Dr. Jose Angel Portal, wrote on Twitter: "while the empire tightens the genocidal economic, commercial and financial blockade against Cuba, our collaborators continue to take health to the most intricate corners of the world. Solidarity cannot be blocked! #CubaForHealth #HealthForAll #NoMoreBlockade
In recent days, the U.S. blockade has increased its hostility towards Cubans, also through pressure against the Venezuelan government of President Nicolas Maduro and the oil industry of that nation.
As Cubadebate website publishes, recent measures issued by the White House report that shipping companies owning tankers claim up to 12 million dollars for the transfer of Venezuelan crude oil to other countries, a figure that represents three times what was paid by Petroleos de Venezuela SA (PDVSA) before the tightening of the U.S. blockade.
As a result, the regular trade between Venezuela and several nations, including Cuba, which benefit from Venezuelan crude oil, are notoriously affected, generating difficulties for the population.
This is what Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez said on Twitter: "The blockade of #USA vs. Cuba is strengthened. It is deliberately aimed at damaging the daily life of our people, generating shortages and difficulties, depriving us of financial resources, strangling our economy. It is a genocidal, criminal policy, in violation of international law."
Regarding the measures that must be adopted to confront this new energy situation, the President of the Councils of State and Ministers Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez and government ministers will appear today at the Roundtable to inform all the people of the strategy to be followed throughout the country.
