Cuban First VP checks agriculture in Eastern province

HAVANA, Cuba, Feb 21 (ACN) Salvador Valdes Mesa, first vice president of the Councils of State and Ministers checked the contracting of agricultural products, the recovery of the collection system, and self-sufficiency at the municipal level in the eastern Cuban province.

During the exchange this Wednesday with the highest political authorities and government of the province, and representatives of the agricultural system, Valdés Mesa said that to produce more viands, vegetables, grains and meat, it is necessary to discuss with each producer about their potential.
Omar Perez Lopez, delegate of Agriculture in the territory, reported that cooperatives and peasants are crucial in this endeavor, as 85.6 of the total food contracts corresponds to this sector.
In this regard Valdes Mesa said that this agreement cannot be made from an office, but after touring the planted areas to know what can really be agreed upon.
He added that there should be more controls on quality and the final destination of the production, especially to the population and tourism, a sector that often has to go to other countries to look for goods that do not receive from national agriculture or do not have quality, said the first vice president.
He said that the food, grains and vegetables must be marketed in the places provided, but also they must pay the producer without so much delay, and expressed satisfaction with the new type of agricultural markets that operate in the city of Las Tunas.

Regarding the collection system, it was explained to the leader that the network is incomplete in the municipalities, but it is being recovered and organized, and the personnel that will work in the different points, at the zone level, purchasing units, routes and concentrator ships are being trained.
