Intense year for Cuban foreign policy in 2018HAVANA, Cuba, Jan 8 (ACN) As an intense year for Cuban foreign policy, described 2018 as Bruno Rodriguez, Cuba's Minister of Foreign Affairs, during an intervention in the round table radio-television show.

The FM highlighted the visits made by Miguel Díaz-Canel, President of the Councils of State and Ministers, to Venezuela, Russia, China, Democratic People's Republic of Korea, Vietnam and Laos, in addition to his transit stays in London and Paris, in the latter city with a fruitful meeting with the Director-General of UNESCO.
As a visit of great symbolism and significance, he described the Cuban President's attendance at the United Nations, in which, in addition to delivering important speeches before the General Assembly, he held meetings with more than twenty high-level representatives and members of all sectors of North American civil society.
Referring to Cuba's insertion into international cooperation mechanisms, the head of Cuban diplomacy highlighted the Caricom-Cuba Summit in December 2017, attended by the then President General of the Army Raúl Castro, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba.
In addition, he highlighted the participation of Cuban civil society in the Summit of the Americas held in Lima, Peru; and the meetings of the Commonwealth of the Caribbean; the ECLAC Conference in Havana, and the ALBA Summit, also in Cuba.
Rodríguez valued the Sao Paulo Forum as a significant moment because it allowed the articulation of the left forces with the social and popular movements and the progressive governments of the region, a very new element in the last stage in the region.

Unity is a necessity in view of the complexity of the continent as a result of the blatant application of the Monroe Doctrine and the changes in the correlation of forces brought about by the rise to power of governments with conservative and even fascist tendencies, Rodriguez said.
He pointed out that Bolivia's pro tempore presidency of ALBA and the necessary summits of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States and of the latter with the European Union constitute opportunities for the mobilization of left-wing forces.
Venezuela is an essential place for the independence and sovereignty of Our America in the face of the threat of U.S. imperialism, in addition to the aggressions against Nicaragua, the Cuban Foreign Minister added.
He pointed out that in the year of the 60th anniversary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, this institution enters a stage of maturity in which it will continue to defend the causes of the countries of the South, international law, human rights and the fight against the blockade.
