Agreement Signed to Promote Historic Sciences in GranmaMANZANILLO, Cuba, Jun 26 (ACN) The University of Granma and the Cuban Nationality House signed a working agreement on Tuesday in Manzanillo with the objective of promoting history and contributing to the formation of professionals from pedagogy to historic sciences.

The relations were established between the School of Secondary Education, History-Marxist Leninist Department and the Cuban Nationality House, one of the most important historic and socio-cultural research centers in the province.

The creation of a cooperation agreement and the scientific working sessions were part of an event dedicated to Francisco Vicente Aguilera on occasion of the 127th anniversary of his birth.

Three recent graduates in History presented their works proposing means that would help in learning history in all educational levels.

The Director of the Cuban Identity House, Damiana Perez told ACN that the municipality of Manzanillo was chosen to also host the event for its historic significance and pay tribute to Francisco Vicente Aguilera, one of the forefathers that fought against Spanish colonialism.

The sessions concluded with a visit to the La Demajagua National Monument, where Carlos Manuel de Cespedes initiated the wars of independence in the country on October 10th, 1868.

The meeting among researchers, held each year, has the objective of promoting an analysis of local history through the figure of Patriot Francisco Vicente Aguilera y Tamayo, founder of the Revolutionary Committee in Bayamo in 1867.
