Machado Ventura receives delegation from the Frente Amplio of Uruguay

HAVANA, Cuba, Jun 6 (ACN) José Ramón Machado Ventura, Second Secretary of the Central Committee of the Party, received on Wednesday afternoon Javier Miranda, president of the Frente Amplio (FA) of Uruguay, who is visiting Cuba.

In a fraternal atmosphere, there was an account of the excellent relations of the FA with the PCC and among our governments, as well as an exchange on the political situation in the region and in the world, and other topics related to the current international situation.

During the meeting, the Uruguayan side reiterated its willingness to attend the Sao Paulo Forum that will take place in our country between July 15 and 17 of this year, as a further effort to achieve Latin American unity.

Machado Ventura informed the Uruguayan delegation about the fulfillment of the agreements of the Seventh Congress of the Communist Party of Cuba and the evaluation of the process of updating the Cuban economic model; details of the recent period of elections of the People's Power and the creation of the Commission that will elaborate the proposal for a new Cuban Magna Carta.

The FA delegation carries out an extensive programme of bilateral exchanges with Cuban authorities and organizations in order to learn more about aspects of our political, economic and social reality.

The distinguished visitor was accompanied by José Bayardi, president of the FA's Committee on International Affairs and Relations, and Eduardo Lorier, Uruguay's ambassador to our country.

Also participating were José Ramón Balaguer, member of the Secretariat and Head of the International Relations Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, and other officials.
