HAVANA, Cuba, Apr 23 (ACN) The General Secretary of the Cuban Workers Confederation, CTC, Ulises Guilarte De Nacimiento said on Monday in Havana that next May 1st will be a demonstration on the indestructible unity of the people alongside its Party and Revolution.
During an encounter with the press, the also member of the Political Bureau of the Cuban Communist Party said that May Day is characterized by a massive, colorful, enthusiastic and conscious rally of the people and will send out a message of unity and commitment to the world with its new Government and State leaders, Raul and Party.
The commemoration will be evidence of the mobilization leadership of the Cuban labor union and will show its capacity to fight and firm conviction that we will always achieve victory, he said.
Guilarte De Nacimiento explained that International Workers Day will also be a space to pay tribute to Fidel and to ratify the determination to comply with the concept of Revolution left by the maximum leader.
The rally with also be a support to the updating of the Cuban economic and social model and the implementation of the guidelines approved in the 6 th and 7th Party Congress because it is the workers, he said, who are the driving force to carry out the implementation.
According to the General Secretary of the CTC, May Day will be held after a successful electoral process and amidst the process of the 21st Congress of the labor union.
It also coincides with the imperialist attack against the working class, its neo-liberal policy and impact on employment and sallies, he said.
The CTC leader added that in today's world there is an increase of discrimination practices against women, youth and immigrants and the loss of social benefits because of the new labor reforms.
In this adverse international context, he said, the Cuban people will pay tribute to the 165th anniversary of the birth of the National Hero Jose Marti; 150th of the beginning of the independence wars and the 65th of the attacks against the Moncada and Carlos Manuel de Cespedes Garrisons in addition to the 60th of the Revolution.
The main slogan, "Unity, Commitment and Victory", will reinforce the historic continuity of the process of the workers in favor of the socialist project, said Guilarte de Nacimiento.
The General Secretary of CTC referred to the role of the working class in the complex economic scenario the country is facing and the need to strengthen the primary sectors of the economy that produce chain production.
He also reaffirmed the responsibility of the working class in generating richness that demands economic development and confirmed that this May 1 st, The Cuban people will demand an end to the US blockade against Cuba and the return of the illegally occupied US Naval Base in Guantanamo.
They will also ratify, the solidarity with the struggles of Latin America and the Caribbean in defense of its integration projects, currently threatened, and the support to the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, victim of Imperial aggression, said the CTC leader.
