Brazilian union members visit Cuba

Brazilian union members visit CubaARTEMISA, Cuba, Nov 4 (acn) Twenty Brazilians from Santa Catarina Trade Union Confederation are touring places of economic and social interest in Cuba with the aim of exchanging with workers and gaining experience in different sectors of trade union direction.

Francisco Alano, the group's president, told ACN that they have been able to feel in Cuba a reality very different from the one in their country, and that workers not only have duties, but also inviolable and inalienable rights.

So they were able to prove this in Artemisa, province where they had the possibility of exchanging with leaders of the Cuban Workers' Federation (CTC by its Spanish acronym) and with affiliates of "El Ruanda" non-agricultural cooperative (CNA by its Spanish acronym) of gastronomic products.

Olga Lidia Martínez, trade union secretary of the CNA, and Reinerio Díaz, president of the board of directors, responded to the improvised questionnaire of the visitors, who inquired about all these new forms of non-state management, which also serves as a source of employment and improves the quality of services.

Organized by the Cuban Friendship Institute (ICAP by its Spanish acronym), the group also visited in Havana the Revolution Museum, the University of Havana, the Jose Marti Memorial and a Committee for the Defense of the Revolution, said Yarisleidis Medida, ICAP official and responsible for the Cuba solidarity movement in Brazil.
