Esteban Lazo Heads May Day Rally in Santiago de Cuba

HAVANA, Cuba, May 1 (acn) Esteban Lazo, member of the Political Bureau of the Cuban Communist Party (CC of the PCC) and President of the National Assembly of the People's Power presides over today the parade for May Day, International Workers' Day, in Santiago de Cuba.

Also participating in the patriotic meeting of the proletariat are Lazaro Exposito, member of the CC of the PCC and first secretary in the province, and other government leaders and leaders of mass and youth organizations.
Present in the platform of the Antonio Maceo Revolution Square of that eastern Cuban city are Labor Heroes, union leaders and outstanding workers and farmers, veterans and founders of the Cuban Workers Confederation and a delegation of the French industry sector.
Huge Cuban and July 26 flags fly at the historic square and some people carry posters allegorical to the work of Santiago, which this year have special reasons to celebrate on this May Day: the 7th Congress of the PCC and the 90th birthday of the historic leader of the Revolution, Fidel Castro.

Compact groups of men and women wearing predominantly clothes with the colors of the homeland, red, blue and white, opened the patriotic march down Parade Avenue, where over 300 thousand workers with their families are meeting.
