Cuban Health Minister urges better services in the family doctors offices

cuban doctorsHAVANA, Cuba, Jan 19 (acn) Cuban Health Minister Roberto Morales Ojeda said on Sunday in Havana that they are looking for ways for the over 10 thousand 500 family doctors' offices in the country to contribute in improving the services to the population.

The Cuban health official told the press, after a tour through the western region, that the objective of the visit is to attempt to solve problems affecting the population in the family doctor´s offices without having to visit a hospital.

He pointed out the policlinics must offer the services of emergencies, clinic laboratories, EKF, X-Rays and if they lack any of these facilities, the institution must find ways to complete the specialties.

Morales added it is necessary to improve the sector´s infrastructure to increase the quality of the services and implies increasing the capacity of essential commitments of the health professionals.

He pointed out that of the 2016 investment plan the priority is to maintain what has been recovered and continue advancing in the reparation and maintenance program.

Regarding the issue, the Cuban Health Minister pointed out that they are working for more rationality and efficiency, prioritizing the quality outcome.

Example of this, said the health Minister and Luis Antonio Torres Iribar, member of the Central Committee´s Communist Party and First Secretary in the province of Holguin, the work concluded at the Julio Grave de Peralta policlinic where the installation as refurbished and expanded to assist close to 30 thousand people.
