Cuba opens Photovoltaic Park for student training

Cuba opens Photovoltaic Park for student trainingHAVANA, Cuba, Nov 18 (ACN) Training in the management of renewable energy sources is the main objective of the experimental photovoltaic park of the Microelectronics Research Center, opened today in Havana as a result of a tripartite project with Mexico and Germany.

More than 60 solar panels were donated by the Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development of the European country to the institution of the Technological University of Havana Jose Antonio Echeverria (CUJAE).
Joseph Weiss, Minister Counselor of the German Embassy to Cuba, said that aid is important in this sector, because his nation has a long experience in the management of renewable energy, and this Caribbean country can cover all its energy demand with this alternative source.
The park is the result of cooperation dating back to 2015 in which 130 Cuban specialists have been trained for optimal management of solar panels.
For her part, Martha Delgado, vice-rector of the Technological University, said that the park will contribute to the professional training in three specialties and encourage research in renewable energy and energy efficiency, for the sake of economic and social progress of the nation.
The project also has a control room for the practice of students with wireless connection.
It is expected that approximately 24 percent of the country's electricity generation will come from renewable energy sources, and thus comply with the National Economic and Social Development Plan until 2030.
