HAVANA, Cuba, Feb 18 (acn) The US Department of State announced that the second round of talks between government representatives of Cuba and the United States to advance the process to reestablish diplomatic relations will take place February 27 in Washington D.C.
According to the announcement, the talks will be hosted by the Department of State and will be led by Assistant Secretary of State for Western Hemisphere Affairs Roberta Jacobson and the general director of the United States Office at the Cuban Foreign Ministry Josefina Vidal.
Both officials and their delegations held the first round of talks January 22 in Havana and agreed to held a second round on logistical issues to facilitate reopening of embassies in Washington and Havana, according to media reports.
Cuba has expressed that it would be difficult to talks about the reestablishment of diplomatic relations while Washington keeps it on its blacklist of state sponsors of international terrorism, an aspect currently under review by the United States.
