HAVANA, Cuba, Aug 14 (acn) Cuban U-23 football team will face Jamaica today in the final phase of the Caribbean Football Union (CFU) at Silvio Cator stadium in Port au Prince, Haiti's capital.
Both squads will seek the victory that allows them to qualify to the final of CONCACAF, which will be played by eight teams in the United States next October in search of two direct tickets to the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro 2016. The third seat will attend a playoff against Colombia.
Today's other match will be between San Vicente and the Grenadines and Haiti. Namely, the two winners will play not only for the scepter of the Caribbean on Sunday 16, but will also get tickets to the US contest.
To reach this CFU final, the Cuban side coached by Raul Gonzalez Triana won the qualifying group based in Antigua and Barbuda where they defeated Guyana 2-0, Aruba 11-1, and the host team 3-2.
Worth mentioning that many members of this Cuban team were part of the squad that won the bronze medal at Veracruz 2014 Central American and Caribbean Games. In addition, five of those players competed in the last 2015 Gold Cup.
So , Triana can use experienced players as the goalkeeper Sandy Sanchez, defenders Arturo Diz Pe and Andy Baquero, midfielders Arichel Hernandez and Daniel Luis Sáez and striker Maykel Reyes.
