The 29th edition of the Guangzhou International Travel Fair, in China, presents the best offers and the tourist potential of Cuba, a country that seeks to be the gateway for Chinese tourism to the Caribbean, given the high number of visitors from that nation who love traveling to other locations afterwards.

This Fair will be held virtually until next October due to the resurgence of Covid-19 China is facing, and this time brings together exhibitors from 55 nations in the world, including Italy, Nepal, Philippines, Portugal, Fiji and Spain.

"It will be an opportunity to exchange with travel agencies and promote Cuba as a destination, especially our health tourism," said Denisse Llamos, Cuban consul in that city, adding that they intend to establish relations with companies in the local market.

Llamos said that the selection of Cuba includes images of the main attractions of the country's tourism industry: sites of high cultural, historical and scenic value.

Cuba and China signed a memorandum of understanding in March this year, which "will strengthen cooperation in tourism through academic programs, research and personnel training to meet the demands of the sector."

In November 2019, Cuba signed with the Chinese agency Ctrip, the second largest online travel agency in the world, a memorandum to position the main Cuban tourist destinations on its platform. (ACN)
