saltocaburni

Those who know Cuban nature know that in unsuspected places you can discover the true scenic beauty of the largest Antillean Island, and that is the case of Topes de Collantes, a paradise in the province of Sancti Spíritus located about 800 meters above sea level.

One of those idyllic and surprising places is the Salto del Caburní, a site that although it is about seven kilometers from the hotels in the area, it tests the endurance of the hiker due to the abrupt ground.

The trail begins near the Kurhotel Escambray, traveling 3.5 kilometers through lush forests, unique rocky outcroppings and progressively more canyon-like cliffs, until reaching one of the highest waterfalls in the country.

Actually, the meandering course of the Salto del Caburní is more like a natural waterslide than a deluge, but it is still an impressive sight; made even more rewarding by the natural pool below.

The hiker is in awe of a unique panorama and some believe it possesses a magical aura, perhaps because of how challenging it can be to reach the waterfall and listen to the constant murmur of the waters.

The huge pool of crystal-clear and cold waters, typical of these landscapes located in the mountains, makes the nature lover forget his sorrows and take several moments to enjoy this natural wonder that makes its way through the rocks and ends, precisely, in a pool whose depth is lost to sight.
