Havana's Telégrafo Axel hotel is in the final phase of a renovation and improvement process, after which it will open its doors as the first LGBTIQ+ friendly city hotel in Cuba.
Owned by the Cuban group Gaviota, the property will be managed by the Spanish company Axel Hotels and, according to a post on the group's institutional blog, will have 63 rooms, restaurant, Wellness Area (Fitness & Spa), lounge bar, lounge, solarium and terrace with swimming pool on the top level, among the most substantial improvements added to the facility.
Silvia Pérez Viñolas, Axel's Director of Communication and Marketing, explained that Axel seeks to position itself as the first worldwide reference business group aimed at the LGBTIQ+ public, with a range of quality services and products designed, developed and adapted in a specialized way, within an environment of diversity and respect for the community to which it belongs.
Telégrafo Axel La Habana Hotel is centrally located, very close to the Gran Teatro Alicia Alonso, the Paseo del Prado, the Malecón, as well as the National Museum of Fine Arts and the legendary Floridita bar.
The reopening will depend on the improvement of the epidemiological situation caused by Covid-19, the resumption of regular flights and the reactivation of tourism. (ACN)
