The completion of bridge number nine marks the closing of the rehabilitation program of the causeway that links the island of Turiguanó with the tourist destination Jardines del Rey, in the north of Ciego de Avila, an action that gives more reliability to the road.
Rubén Galbán Hernández, head of the Investment Group of the Provincial Road Center, informed the Cuban News Agency (ACN) that the viaduct originally had 14 bridges, but numbers four and nine, of 20 meters each, were added to achieve greater water flow.
With these actions, he said, we complied with the provisions of the Regulation for the Compatibility of the development of the National Economy with the interests of the Defense of the Country and its current procedures, while at the same time we kept in mind the legal regulations related to the protection of the environment, heritage and landscape resources.
The Campaña de las Villas contingent, from Villa Clara, was in charge of the first construction stage of the bridge in 2020, with the execution of poles with an approximate depth of 18 meters, and in 2021 the Unidad Empresarial de Base número 3 del Ministerio de la Construcción, in the territory of Villa Clara, took charge of the structural part and completion.
