The Varadero, digital city project, of the Scientific-Technological Park of Matanzas S.A., plans to turn Cuba's main sun and beach tourist pole into a digital city by 2025, through a three-stage plan, until December 2024.
Mailé Salgado Cruz, vice-president of that entity, said that the initiative is currently in its first stage, which aims to diagnose services and technological capacity in the city.
The socialization with participants and beneficiaries, identification of projects to be carried out by axes and dimensions, as well as the preparation of diagnostic groups to start the cardinal task, stand out among the actions carried out at the beginning, she said.
Salgado Cruz explained that one of the 19 initiatives planned in different stages by the commercial society located in the University of Matanzas, conceives the use of information and communication technologies to generate solutions that contribute to the quality of life of the population.
A concrete example in which it would have a great influence would be the development of electronic commerce through existing payment channels, although it covers other transcendental axes such as government, mobility and transportation management and sustainability and ecosystem. (ACN)
