Jardines de la Reina National Park, located to the north of the provinces of Ciego de Avila and Camagüey, in central Cuba, is among the Blue Park 2021 candidates, nominated by the Marine Conservation Institute.

   As published on its official Twitter profile by the Cuban Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment, this category provides a science-based standard for the effectiveness of marine conservation.

   The Marine Conservation Institute is a non-profit ocean conservation organization that works to identify and protect vulnerable ocean ecosystems worldwide.

   In the case of the Cuban National Park, it is an archipelago stretching 72.5 nautical miles north of the main island, which contains the largest marine reserve in the Caribbean, established in 1996. (ACN)
