The excellent conditions offered by the Jardines del Rey destination, north of Ciego de Avila, for the practice of nautical sports, are within the reach of tourists who visit the area.

The unrepeatable environment of the cream-white beaches and the extensive coral reef very close to the coast provide the leisure industry in this area with more than 30 immersion sites and three diving centers: Blue Diving, Coco Diving and Green Moray, located - respectively - in the Meliá Cayo Coco, Tryp Cayo Coco and Meliá Cayo Guillermo hotels.

Vacationers have options for night diving, nautical regattas for domestic and foreign tourists, canal fishing, snorkeling and boat rides.

The presence in these clear waters of over a thousand species of fish, 200 types of sponges, corals and a varied sample of mollusks, algae, gorgonians, crustaceans and sea fans will not disappoint those who venture to explore the seabed.

Other areas have also been identified for exploitation in the southern part of Cayo Coco, through nautical options with the purpose of creating new extra-hotel products. (Magaly Zamora Morejón, ACN)
