In the midst of the confrontation with COVID-19, the Islazul hotel group did not stop and its workers took advantage of the occasion to improve the facilities and adapt them to the new biosafety protocols.
During a meeting with the press in Havana, Rasiel Torar Rodríguez, president of that Higher Organization of Business Management (OSDE) of the Ministry of Tourism, and Osnier Fonseca Cabrera, its vice-president of Marketing, stressed that they have kept operating hotels in all the territories where the conditions allowed it.
The excursions also continued, especially during the summer, and in that sense the Tour of Cuba was very well received.
The directors stressed that 2020 was a very important year for Islazul, as regards improvements in its facilities, with the execution of investments aimed at greater comfort and image, and of 1,721 rooms out of service, 954 were recovered, mainly in the Varadero and Havana poles.
Several rooms have been conditioned for events in the capital, in the Tulipán and Paseo Habana hotels and those of the OSDE itself; as well as in Cienfuegos those of the Pasacaballos hotel and in Santiago de Cuba the Deportivo hotel.
Fonseca Cabrera highlighted that different service areas were also improved, such as buffet restaurants, snack bars, as well as bathrooms and public areas, which allows showing the visitor a renewed image of the hotel plant in its different modalities, many city hotels with high patrimonial, historical and cultural value; of nature and of sun and beach.
He emphasized that tourists from destinations such as Canada are arriving at the chain's facilities, to whom, like all visitors, biosecurity protocols and active research are applied, with a view to detecting any positive case of COVID-19. (Fidel Rendón Matienzo, ACN)
