Cuban Five Case Gets to Beirut Book Fair

HAVANA, Cuba, Dec 1 (acn) Books, postcards and posters on Cuba and the Cuban Five convicted in the United States for denouncing terrorist actions against their country stood out among the varied offer of the 58th Beirut International Arab Book Fair 2014.

On the initiative of the Lebanese Solidarity Committee to Free the Cuban Five (L4C5), titles like ¨El imperio del terror, ¨by Alejandro Castro Espín, and ¨Voces desde la carcel , ¨share space with books of the publishing house Editora del Patrimonio de Literatura Arabe (EPLA by its Spanish acronym) .

¨Dulce abismo¨, ¨Los heroes prohibidos¨ and ¨Los pueblos Arabes e n la pupila de José Martí¨, in Spanish , English and French, complete the sample that also presents postcards with claims to US President Barack Obama, to free the Cuban Five, Prensa Latina news agency said.

L4C5 activists then sent by mail the cards to Obama, one of its members explained while young people went to the stand interested in posters with the image of Argentine-Cuban guerrilla Ernesto Che Guevara and reproductions of Cuban flags.

Voces desde la carcel ( Pathfinder Publishing House) contains accounts of prison life and the resistance of Gerardo Hernández and Ramón Labañino, condemned to harsh sentences along with Antonio Guerrero, Fernando González and René González on a trial marred by arbitrariness held in Miami .

René González and Fernando González are already free in Cuba after fully comply their unjust sentences.
The biggest literary event in Lebanon and one of the oldest in the Arab world was inaugurated on November 28 by Prime Minister Tammam Salam at the International Centre for Exhibition and Recreation, in Beirut, where it will run until December 11.
