U.S. Organization Gives Prize to the Cuban FiveHAVANA, Cuba, Aug 7 (acn) A delegation of the Center of Cuban Studies in New York and of the Montclair Art Museum gave on Wednesday in this capital the Nelson Mandela Prize to the five Cuban Antiterrorists unfairly condemned in the United States.

At the Cuban Institute for Friendship with the Peoples, Sandra Levinson, director of the Center of Cuban Studies and ardent activist in favor of Cuba and its Revolution, handed over the acknowledgement to two of The Five, Fernando Gonzalez and Rene Gonzalez, released from prison after serving their sentences, and Mirta Rodriguez, mother of Antonio Guerrero, one of the heroes that, along with Ramon Labañino and Gerardo Hernandez, is still unfairly incarcerated in the United States.
The acknowledgement, established by the Geller Foundation of Philadelphia, a non-governmental institution, consists in a plaque and cash prize to honor persons best representing the qualities of the late South African leader, and this is the first time it's given.
In his words to thank the Foundation for the prize, Fernando Gonzalez, vice-president of ICAP, announced the decision of the group of antiterrorist fighters and their relatives to donate the cash prize to the International Committee to Free the Five, to be used in the struggle for the return to Cuba of Ramon, Gerardo and Tony.
Present in the ceremony were Adriana Perez, wife of Gerardo Hernandez, as well as executives and officials of ICAP and other guests.
The delegation of the Center of Cuban Studies and the Montclair Art Museum is composed of 25 persons from New York and New Jersey, where the Montclair museum is located, many of which are interested in knowing more about the African roots in Cuban culture.
